People searching for a TR score are usually after a temporary visa, and the abbreviation is not used on the Home Affairs pages we read. Two temporary visas covered here are the Temporary Graduate 485 and the Skills in Demand 482, and each has its own English table. For tests taken on or after 7 August 2025, Home Affairs lists: PTE Academic, IELTS Academic, IELTS General Training, TOEFL iBT, CELPIP General, OET, LANGUAGECERT Academic, Michigan English Test. Cambridge C1 Advanced is listed as not accepted.
PTE Core is not on Home Affairs' list for the 485. The accepted Pearson test is PTE Academic.
Home Affairs: in the 12 months immediately before the day you apply for your visa, you must have scored one of the specified results.
Home Affairs lets you show that you are a citizen of, and hold a valid passport from, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Canada, New Zealand or the Republic of Ireland instead of a test result.
Yes. Home Affairs: The department accepts IELTS test results that include One Skill Retake (OSR) for a Temporary Graduate visa. Any OSR must be completed prior to lodging your application.
A separate table applies. For PTE Academic taken on or before 6 August 2025 the minimums are 57 overall, with 43 in listening, 48 in reading, 51 in writing and 42 in speaking.
Yes. Home Affairs publishes a lower table for holders of British National (Overseas) or Hong Kong passports. For PTE Academic taken on or after 7 August 2025 it is 47 overall, with 33, 36, 29 and 24 in listening, reading, writing and speaking.
