PTE voucher and discount codes: what exists in Australia
Pearson, the company that runs PTE, has a box for a voucher or promo code at the payment step, but we found no page where it publishes a code for Australia. Its fees page names voucher resellers only in Nigeria and China, and its Australian price is AU$499.00. Treat any other code site as unverified.
People search for a PTE voucher, coupon or discount code hoping to cut the test fee. This page shows what Pearson actually publishes, what it does not, and where real savings are. It is our reading of Pearson's own pages, not a list of codes, and it is not advice on any visa. The owner's pages decide the rules.
Does a PTE discount code for Australia exist?
What Pearson's own pages show.
Pearson runs PTE. Its booking guide says there is a place to type a voucher or promo code at the payment step. Its fees page names voucher resellers in two countries. We did not find a Pearson page that publishes a discount code for Australia.
"Pay for your test. You can pay with American Express, Discover, Mastercard or Visa. If you have a voucher or promo code, now is when you’ll enter it."
"PTE works with voucher resellers in some countries. Find trusted resellers in your country."
| Page we checked | What it says | What it means in Australia |
|---|---|---|
| Pearson booking guide | If you have a voucher or promo code, now is when you’ll enter it. | A code field exists at payment. The page does not say any code is on offer. |
| Pearson test centers and fees | Find official PTE voucher resellers in Nigeria. Find official PTE voucher resellers in China. | The reseller list names Nigeria and China. Australia is not on it. |
| Pearson price for Australia | PTE Academic | AU$ 499.00 AUD | One price is shown. No discounted price is shown. |
So the honest answer to "is there a PTE voucher code for Australia" is: Pearson has a field for one, but we found no public code. A code that you find elsewhere is something you must check before you rely on it.
Vouchers, promo codes and resellers
Three words that get mixed up.
Pearson's ApplyBoard voucher page says what a voucher is:
"Test vouchers or gift cards are unique codes that are redeemable for the full value of a test."
The Pearson pages we read use the words voucher and promo code but do not define a promo code.
Our reading: a promo code is a discount you type in at checkout, and a coupon is usually the same thing as a promo code, so ask any seller exactly what you are buying.
Pearson says it works with resellers "in some countries" and links to resellers for Nigeria and China. If you live in one of those two countries, start from Pearson's own reseller page, not from a search result. If you are testing in Australia, Pearson's page gives you no reseller to start from.
One more place a voucher appears in Pearson's rules: you can pay US$50 for a technical review of your Speaking recordings, which you must request by phone within 15 business days of your results. If it finds a fault, Pearson refunds the test fee and the review fee, and people who paid with a voucher get a free credit voucher. If it finds no fault, neither fee is refunded.
"If the technical review identifies technical issues in your audio recordings, your test fee will be refunded. If you used a voucher to pay for your test, a free credit voucher will be provided."
The price you are trying to cut
Pearson's price for Australia.
Pearson says the fee depends on where you take the test. For Australia its price data shows the same figure for PTE Academic and PTE Core.
| Test | Price shown for Australia |
|---|---|
| PTE Academic | PTE Academic | AU$ 499.00 AUD |
| PTE Core | PTE Core | AU$ 499.00 AUD |
"The fees for PTE Academic vary depending on the country in which you choose to take your test."
Extras such as rescoring and the full fee picture are on our PTE test fees in Australia page. How to book step by step is on how to book PTE in Australia.
Where Pearson lets you spend less without a code
These are on Pearson's own pages.
If your goal is a lower total cost, these are the levers Pearson itself publishes. None needs a code.
| Lever | What Pearson says | Our reading |
|---|---|---|
| Free preparation | A study plan. Four full Guided Practice Tests. | Learn the tasks free before you pay for anything. |
| Free start on AI practice | Free to start, no payment required. The free version has 1 Speaking and Writing diagnostic and 1 Reading and Listening diagnostic. | A cheap way to find your weakest skill. |
| Preparation bundles | Save up to $118 USD and get everything you need to succeed. | A saving on practice material, not on the test fee. Priced in US dollars. |
| Free score sharing | Your scores are digital and can be shared securely with as many institutions as you like, for free. | No extra fee to send results to several universities. |
"Charged in USD; exchange rates set by your bank. One-time payment, not a subscription."
Our PTE practice test and free mock test page lays out the free and paid options side by side.
The cheapest test is the one you only pay for once
Refunds, retakes and passport details.
Two avoidable ways to lose a test fee are a missed cancellation window and a name that does not match the passport. Pearson's rules on both are short.
| Situation | What Pearson says |
|---|---|
| Cancel early | If you cancel more than 14 days before your booked test time. You will receive a 100% refund of your test fee. |
| Cancel in the middle window | If you cancel between 14 days and more than 7 days before your booked test time. You will receive a 50% refund of your test fee. |
| Cancel late | If you cancel 7 days or fewer before your booked test time. You will not receive a refund. |
| Name does not match your passport | If your account details do not match your passport, you will not be allowed to take the test and will not be eligible for a refund. |
| Fixing your details | If needed, you can correct your account details up to 3 days before your test. |
| Retaking | You can only book your new test once you have received the scores from your last test. You can only book one test at a time. |
Two Pearson pages word the refund window differently
Pearson's refund policy page and the cancellation answer on its PTE Academic page do not use the same day counts. We show both, because we cannot tell which one Pearson wants you to follow.
| Pearson page | What it says |
|---|---|
| Refund policy page | More than 14 days before: 100% refund. Between 14 days and more than 7 days: 50% refund. 7 days or fewer: no refund. |
| PTE Academic page, cancel or reschedule answer | 14 or more days before the test: cancel for free. Between 13 and 8 days: you will receive a 50% refund. Fewer than 7 days: you do not receive a refund. |
Our reading: cancelling with more than 14 days to spare is covered by both wordings (aim for 15 or more), so do not leave a change of plan to the last few weeks.
How to spot a code that is not what it says
Our checklist before you pay anyone.
- Ask who is selling it and whether you get a receipt. If the seller will not say, walk away.
- Never give anyone your myPTE password or your ID details. A seller needs neither to sell you a code.
- Pay for the test at the payment step of the booking, by card, the way Pearson's guide describes. A seller who wants a bank transfer to a person is not that.
- A page titled with a year is not proof that a code works. Anyone can type a year into a title.
- If a seller is not on Pearson's reseller list for your country, ask Pearson's customer support before you pay.
- Check the final price at the last screen of the booking, before you submit the order.
"Finally, review your test appointment details and payment information, then click on 'Submit Order'."
Pearson's booking guide has you enter a voucher or promo code in the payment step, and the last step before you submit the order is to review your test appointment details and payment information.
Our reading: that order lets you see what you will pay before you commit. If the number is not what you were promised, stop there.
Where the code goes in the booking
Pearson's own booking steps, in order.
- Choose a center and select a date and time at least 24 hours in advance, then click on 'Book'.
- To continue with your booking, you’ll now need to create a myPTE account.
- Make sure your details exactly match your valid passport.
- Pay for your test. You can pay with American Express, Discover, Mastercard or Visa. If you have a voucher or promo code, now is when you’ll enter it.
- Finally, review your test appointment details and payment information, then click on 'Submit Order'.
Common questions
We found no public code on Pearson's pages for Australia. Pearson's booking guide does say there is a place to enter one: "If you have a voucher or promo code, now is when you’ll enter it."
We found no free voucher scheme on Pearson's pages. What is free to start is practice: Pearson says its AI practice is "Free to start, no payment required", and a free study plan and Guided Practice Tests sit in your myPTE account.
At the payment step of the booking in your myPTE account. Pearson's guide says: "If you have a voucher or promo code, now is when you’ll enter it." Check the price on the last screen before you submit the order.
Pearson's pages we checked show no dated codes. The price it shows for Australia is AU$499.00 for PTE Academic. A site that sells a code with a year in its title has not shown you proof that the code works.
Pearson's fees page lists official resellers for two countries only. It says: "PTE works with voucher resellers in some countries." The two countries it names are Nigeria and China, not Australia.
Pearson's price data for Australia shows AU$499.00 for PTE Academic. The fee changes by country, and our PTE test fees page has the extras.
It depends on how early you cancel. Pearson's refund policy gives a 100% refund if you cancel more than 14 days before your booked test time, and 50% between 14 and 7 days. Its PTE Academic page words the windows a little differently, so cancel early.
Yes. Pearson says: "Your scores are digital and can be shared securely with as many institutions as you like, for free."
