IELTS test centres in Canada: Markham, Burnaby, Scarborough, Victoria and more
Two companies run IELTS centres in Canada. IDP lists venues in Markham, Burnaby, Scarborough and Victoria with many sessions, and the British Council lists others such as ILTTS Scarborough and Kamloops. Bring the ID you registered with and arrive at least 30 minutes early.
This page maps where IDP IELTS Canada and the British Council list IELTS centres in thirteen cities people search for, and what each one printed when we read it. Sessions and prices change daily, so each company's finder decides what is open for you. It is not a booking page and it is not immigration advice.
Two companies run IELTS centres in Canada
IDP and the British Council each have a finder. Read on 2 October 2026.
Searches for an IELTS venue in a Canadian city land on one of two sites. IDP IELTS Canada runs one. The British Council runs the other, on ielts.ca. Both sell the same IELTS test. They have different venues, booking pages and sometimes prices. Each describes its network like this.
"With 180+ test centres in 50+ cities across Canada, IELTS test booking has never been more accessible."

So the British Council gives two figures on ielts.ca: over 80 test centres on its exam-dates page and 150+ on its home page. Each is its own claim, so check both booking pages for your city.
The test itself is the same. The British Council's own blog puts it strongly, and IDP agrees on the test but not on the price:
"The actual test questions, format, scoring standards, and international validity are 100% identical."
"While the test is the same, sometimes the fees aren’t. IDP and British Council have different prices that you should check."
So the centre decides the price, the dates and the extras. Two more things from IDP's finder page affect how you plan:
"Choose a test date at least 2 to 3 months before your earliest application deadline to ensure your scores are ready in time."

Each row shows what IDP's own pages showed for the city and what the British Council's ielts.ca page showed. Sessions change daily, so we give the count we read, not a promise.

Our reading: Scarborough has by far the most choice, with 8 IDP venues and three British Council ones. In London and Sudbury, IDP listed venues but no sessions on the day we read the page, while the British Council listed centres, so look at both finders before assuming there is no test nearby. For Thunder Bay we could only read the British Council's listing.
British Columbia: Burnaby, Victoria, Nanaimo, Kamloops and Kelowna
Two Vancouver Island cities, two interior cities and Burnaby.
British Columbia has the same two-company pattern. IDP lists venues in Burnaby and Victoria with many sessions. For some smaller cities, the British Council's page was the one with a named venue.

Our reading: the British Council lists Kelowna and Kamloops as cities it serves, so those are the two to check first. We could not read an IDP page for either one, so we cannot name an IDP venue there.

An empty list is a snapshot, not a rule. Venues add and remove sessions through the month. The IDP Sudbury page says what to do if there are no dates:
"If there are no dates below, you can visit our list of all available venues and locations."
IDP's Markham centre in detail
The venue behind the searches for IDP Education IELTS Markham.
The IDP Education testing venue in Markham is a common one to look for, so here is what IDP's venue page prints. IDP says it has four venues in Markham. This is the one it describes in full.

The sessions we read were labelled IDP Education Markham (Test Room), and IELTS for UKVI Life Skills sessions were labelled IDP Education-Markham LS. That is why the same address can look like two venues in a search. If your booking says Test Room, it is the standard test at this address. IDP's page says to review the details in your confirmation email, so use that as the final word.

IDP's Burnaby centre in detail
The venue behind the IDP IELTS test venue Burnaby searches.
IDP's Burnaby page gives the following. It describes the centre as close to Metrotown, and it names the free preparation that comes with a booking.

IDP's finder lists a second Burnaby venue with a different rule about the building:

So if your booking is at the BCIT centre, you may not know the exact building until a few days before the test. Our reading: watch your email.
Victoria and Regina in detail
Two single-venue cities, as IDP's venue pages describe them.
Victoria and Regina are the two single-venue cities where IDP showed sessions, so here is what each venue page adds.

The strict no walk-ins line is worth reading twice. It means you should not turn up hoping to book or ask questions. Book online first, and use the contact details on the venue page for questions.
Scarborough: eight IDP venues and the ILTTS question
Why Scarborough searches name so many different places.
Scarborough has more IELTS venues than any other city we read. IDP's city page says so, and its finder lists several of them by name.

The search "ILTTS IELTS test venue Scarborough" is different. ILTTS is not an IDP venue. It is a British Council centre listed on ielts.ca. This is the listing:

The ILTTS London centre is another case of the same operator. The British Council's page for it says the centre is inside a tower and tests daily:
"Take your IELTS on Computer test at ILTTS London, conveniently located inside London Tower with easy access by public transit and private transportation. The test centre offers dedicated customer support, daily test availability and IELTS One Skill Retake options."
Our reading: if your booking confirmation says ILTTS, you booked through the British Council, not IDP. The test is the same, but the refund rules, price and contact details come from the British Council. See our fee page for how those differ.
What happens at the centre
ID, arrival, your belongings and the Speaking test.
The rules below are from IDP's Burnaby page and the British Council's test day page. Other IDP venue pages can differ: Global Village Victoria says candidates will not be allowed in the test room if they arrive within 15 minutes of the start of the test, and Markham says to bring the original, valid ID you used to register (usually your passport). Confirm the rules with your own venue. Your confirmation email has the final timings.

The two companies' ID lists differ a little. IDP lists passport, PR Card or SCIS card. The British Council lists a passport or national identity card. Both say to bring what you registered with. IDP's what-to-bring page also says you must bring your current passport, that only original and current passports are accepted, and that the passport must have an expiry date of at least 7 days after the test date. If you registered with a PR Card or SCIS card, ask your test centre in writing before test day. Read your own booking page, and if you are unsure, ask the centre in writing.
Venues that still say paper
IDP's finder says it no longer offers the old paper test, but a few venue pages still describe themselves that way. We read three. Each one said the test was on paper, and each showed no sessions when we read it.

Our reading: a venue page that says paper and shows no sessions is probably a legacy listing. Do not plan around it. Look for a venue on the same finder that says computer, such as Global Village Victoria in Victoria, which listed plenty of sessions. If you need to handwrite Writing, choose the Writing on Paper option on a computer venue, not a paper venue.
Paper, computer and Writing on Paper
Do not confuse those listings with IELTS on computer (Writing on Paper). That is a computer test where you handwrite the Writing section, and IDP's venue pages offer it as a choice when you book.

If your city shows no dates
Our steps, not the owners'.
Eight of the thirteen cities on this page showed no IDP sessions or no IDP page when we looked. That does not mean there is no test near you. These steps are ours.
- Open both finders. Check IDP's city page, then the British Council's ielts.ca page for the same city. One may list sessions when the other does not.
- Widen the date filter. IDP's pages have a test dates filter. Choose the longest option before you decide there are no dates.
- Look at the nearest large city. A single-venue town may have few sessions. A larger city nearby may have many, with morning and afternoon options.
- Count back from your deadline. Results for a computer test come in days, but you also need time to send them, so book earlier than you think.
- Email the venue. The venue pages list contact details. Ask when the next session is and whether Speaking is on the same day.
The British Council also says its computer sessions are frequent, which helps in smaller cities:
"IELTS on Computer tests are offered up to three times a day, seven days a week, so there is much more flexibility when it comes to finding a suitable date and time."

IDP IELTS Test Centre Burnaby is at 5172 Kingsway, Unit 310 Burnaby, BC, V5H 2E8. IDP says it is close to Metrotown. IDP's finder also lists the Burnaby - ILAC BCIT Centre at 3700 Willingdon Avenue (its page describes a paper test and showed no sessions when we read it).
ILTTS Scarborough is a British Council centre at Unit 254, 2100 Ellesmere Road, Scarborough, Ontario M1H 3B7. It is listed on ielts.ca, not on IDP's finder.
IDP lists Global Village Victoria at 202 - 1290 Broad St, Victoria, British Columbia, V8W 2A5, and Canada College - Victoria Centre at the University of Victoria (its page describes a paper test and showed no sessions when we read it). The British Council lists Inlingua Victoria College of Languages and Careers at 101-910 Government St.
The British Council lists both Kelowna and Kamloops among its British Columbia cities, and names two Kamloops venues: MOSAIC engage and Oxford International at Thompson Rivers University. We could not read an IDP page for either city.
In London, the British Council lists ILTTS London at 379 Dundas Street and Ampra Examination Centre at 1700 Dundas St. In Saskatoon, IDP lists Saskatchewan Polytechnic at 1130 Idylwyld Drive. In Regina, IDP lists the Regina Open Door Society at 2314 11th Avenue.
The British Council lists Collège Boréal and Cambrian College in Sudbury, Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, BITTS Atlantic Services in Moncton and the inlingua venue in Nanaimo. IDP lists venues in Sudbury, Moncton and Nanaimo too, though no sessions were showing when we read them.
Use the finder of the company you want to book with. IDP says it has 180+ test centres in 50+ cities across Canada, and the British Council gives two figures on ielts.ca, over 80 test centres on its exam-dates page and 150+ on its home page. You can pick your province and city on either site.
