PTE classes, courses and coaching in Australia
Pearson sells self-study PTE Academic preparation, such as a Scored Practice Test for $35.99 USD. Live classes and one-to-one coaching come from providers such as E2Language, and tutors on Preply. Pearson's old practice app is gone, and its page points to Official PTE Academic AI Practice, which is free to start.
People searching for PTE classes want different things: a teacher, a course, an app or a coach. This page sorts them out. It says who offers what in their own words, what each costs on the page we read, and how to match an option to your gap. We rank no one.
Who offers what
Pearson sells self-study. Providers sell classes and coaching.
Search results for PTE classes mix three different things: Pearson's own preparation, online class and coaching providers, and individual tutors. They are not the same product, and they cost very different amounts. This table shows who offers what, using each provider's own words.

Our reading: if you want someone to correct your Speaking and Writing, you need live feedback from a teacher, which means a class or a tutor. If you mostly need official-style questions and a score estimate, Pearson's self-study tools are enough. Many people use both.
Start with the free options
You can learn a lot before you pay for anything.
Pearson's free items for PTE Academic are in Smart Prep, which you open in your myPTE account. Pearson lists these:
- A study plan.
- 4 full Guided Practice Tests.
- Sectional Guided Practice Tests.
- Video courses split by skill.
- Test tip documents.
The AI practice product also has a free tier. Pearson says:
- Free to start, no payment required.
- Try official practice and AI feedback before you upgrade. No card needed.
- 2 diagnostic tests (in the free version)
E2Language, a class provider, also starts free. It says: “you should sign up for FREE to E2’s PTE practice website”, and its live-class offer includes “Try a free sample live class”.

All of it is self-study, and all prices are in US dollars.

Pearson's pages add three limits worth knowing:
- Access to the PTE Academic Question bank expires six months after the access code is activated.
- Individual practice questions can be repeated throughout your access period. Each full-length mock test and sectional test can only be taken once.
- Scored Practice Tests. These Practice Tests are one-time use only.
Pearson describes the Expert course as “A complete digital program for independent learners targeting top scores”. Our reading: it is built for people studying alone, so expect to check your own work against the sample answers. It is not a class.
What happened to the PTE practice app
The official app is gone. Here is the replacement.
Many people search for a PTE app or a PTE practice app. Pearson's page for its old practice app now says:
"Looking for a new way to prepare? Explore Official PTE Academic AI Practice."
"Official PTE AI Practice combines official practice questions, skills tests, and mock tests in one connected experience."
So the official route now is Official PTE Academic AI Practice, which Pearson describes as official questions with instant AI scoring and feedback. Its free tier is a good first step.
Third-party providers also describe apps. E2Language's page says: “On E2’s PTE practice app, you have access to hundreds of sample PTE questions”. We have not tested that app, and we do not know how its marking compares with the real test.
Live classes and coaching: E2Language
What its page says, and what it costs.
We link to E2Language with a tracking link only and have no paid arrangement with it at the moment. It is an online provider. Pearson itself has described E2Language and added it to its list of preparation providers. In Pearson's words:
"E2Language is a global online tutorial and test preparation provider. They offer good quality practice services and materials for PTE Academic. E2Language offers online tuition through group and 1-1 learning, supported by a range of YouTube videos that share tips and advice. They offer a set of online preparation materials."
That Pearson article is from 2021, so it is not a current endorsement. E2's own page says Pearson lists it among recommended providers, and E2 states who teaches:
- Pearson lists E2Language among its recommended PTE Academic preparation providers on pearsonpte.com, crediting E2 with quality practice services and materials. (E2 says)
- E2's PTE teachers are ex-examiners or experienced PTE trainers. (E2 says)

E2 says its course is “available in a range of packages from self-study to teacher-led intensive packages”. E2's page shows these prices in US dollars:

E2's score guarantee, read carefully
"Yes. The Score Guarantee covers the Bronze, Silver and Gold PTE Academic packages. Complete the course, and if your score does not improve you get your money back. Express and Express+ carry no guarantee."
Our reading: that is a useful example of why to read the terms on any guarantee. It applies to some packages and not others, and it depends on you completing the course. Read the full terms on the provider's page before you pay. E2 also says: “E2 also allows for packages to be paused if your circumstances change.”
The Gold row in E2's table says “A premium package guaranteed to help you get your target score.” E2's guarantee wording is about your score improving, not about reaching your target.
One-to-one tutors: Preply
A marketplace, not a single course.
Preply is a tutor marketplace. Its PTE page is titled as below, and it shows a price range per lesson across its tutors:
- Online PTE Tutors for Exam Prep Classes.
- Price per lesson $3 – $40+.
- Book trial lesson (each tutor offers a trial lesson button)
Prices and tutors change, and quality varies. Our reading: pick a tutor who names PTE specifically, has reviews from PTE students, and can show you how they mark Speaking and Writing. Use a trial lesson to test that before you buy a block of lessons. We do not rank tutors.
How to choose
Match the option to your gap, your time and your budget.

Questions to put to any class, course or tutor
- Who marks my Speaking and Writing, and how fast do I get feedback? (E2 states a timeframe on its own page, which is a fair benchmark.)
- Are the materials updated for the current test?
- Can I try a class or lesson first?
- What does any guarantee actually say, and which packages does it cover?
- Do you teach me to build answers, or to memorise a fixed script? A memorised script is a risk, as the Pearson note below shows.
Pearson's Academic Score Guide lists a response that does not deal properly with the prompt because of significant amounts of pre-prepared or memorised material as one scored 0 for Content, and a response scored 0 for Content gets no score points. It also says:
"Responses that contain pre-prepared or memorized material are classified as irrelevant responses."
You can take a class from anywhere online, but you cannot sit the test from home. Pearson says:
"To complete the test, you will need to attend a secure Pearson Test Center."

Pearson's Smart Prep has free resources for PTE Academic, including a study plan, 4 full Guided Practice Tests, sectional tests, video courses and test tips. Official PTE Academic AI Practice also has a free tier.
Not any more. Pearson's page says: “The PTE Academic Practice App is no longer available.” Its page points to Official PTE Academic AI Practice instead, which is free to start.
It varies by provider and package. E2Language's page shows Express 69.00 USD, Express+ 89.00 USD, Bronze 169.00 USD, Silver 249.00 USD and Gold 359.00 USD. Preply's PTE page shows a price per lesson of $3 – $40+, depending on the tutor.
The Pearson preparation pages we read list self-study products: Scored Practice Tests, Official PTE Academic AI Practice, the Official Guide, the Question Bank and the Expert Self-Study Course. Pearson describes the Expert course as a digital program for independent learners.
Yes. E2Language says: “Join our PTE live classes led by our expert PTE teachers.” You still sit the test at a Pearson test centre, because Pearson says you will need to attend a secure Pearson Test Center.

It depends on your gap. If your weak spot is Speaking or Writing and you cannot judge your own answers, marked feedback from a teacher helps. If you mainly need more questions, Pearson's own self-study tools may be enough. Start with a free diagnostic.
